At least two people were killed and six others injured in a stampede during a procession marking Eid-e-Miladunnabi at Muradpur in Chattogram city on Saturday.
The deceased are Ayub Ali, 60, of Patiya upazila, and Saiful Islam, 13, of Kalamia Bazar in the city.
Witnesses said that Anjuman-E-Rahmania Ahmadia Sunna Trust organised the procession where the incidents took place within a short distance at around 12:00 noon in the Muradpur area.
They said that several people collapsed in the crowd due to the heat and some were trampled in the process.
The injured were rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared two people dead.
Chattogram Medical College Hospital director Brigadier General Mohammad Taslim Uddin said that one of the injured was undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit.
