The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, commemorating the birth and demise anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM) will be observed on Saturday across the country with due religious solemnity.

The decision was taken at the meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee, on August 24 at the Islamic Foundation Conference Room at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

On Rabiul Awal 12 in 570 Hijri, Prophet Muhammad (SM) was born in Makkah, bringing divine blessings and a message of peace for mankind. He also passed away on the same day in 632 Hijri.

The government has declared a general holiday on September 6 to mark the occasion.

On the eve of the day, president Mohammed Shahabuddin and chief adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus issued separate messages, greeting the people of Bangladesh and the Muslims across the world.

In his message, the president said that on the glorious day, the arrival of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) marked the beginning of a new era, as he illuminated the hearts and minds of people by dispelling the injustice, falsehood, and darkness that prevailed in Arab society at the time.

In his message, Professor Yunus said that the impeccable and timeless teachings and ideals left by the Prophet (PBUH) continued to serve as a guiding light for humanity, offering a path to liberation and enlightenment for people of every era and generation.

Meanwhile, the government has made comprehensive arrangements across the country for the peaceful observance of Eid-e-Miladunnabi.

Emphasis has been placed on ensuring smooth and secure congregations and processions, particularly in major cities – Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Khulna and Rajshahi, to mark the auspicious occasion.

Home adviser Lieutenant General (retired) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury ordered law enforcement agencies to maintain heightened vigilance and ensure full proof arrangements, particularly at major mosques and other religious places where large gatherings are expected.

Marking the day, Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar will broadcast special programmes and different national dailies will publish supplements highlighting the significant of the day.
