Active monsoon winds and a rapidly intensifying depression are threatening to bring almost non-stop rain to parts of Bangladesh, particularly along the coast, where thousands remained stranded until Monday.
Crops on hundreds of thousands of acres in low-lying areas, mostly in the coast, remained inundated for almost a week now, eliminating any last hope that farmers might have had to salvage some of their affected crops.

In the 57 affected unions, 24,950 families are still stranded. The flood affected 90,403 people, according to official estimates.
