
A fraud case has been filed with the court of senior judicial magistrate Barnali Rani in Jashore accusing three officials of the Basic Bank at Karwan Bazar Branch in Dhaka and two others for embezzling Tk 1, 65, 00,000.
The accused allegedly embezzled the amount by issuing several loans using false papers of a total of 6.95 decimal land at Bezpara in Jashore town.
Zahid Hasan Tukun, the president of Jashore Press Club, filed the case on Monday accusing AHM Mazedur Rahman, deputy general manager of Basic Bank at Karwan Bazar Branch, Azmim, the branch manager, Rezaul Islam, senior manager and Reshma Shabnam and her husband Sadar Uddin Chandu of Banani in Dhaka.
According to the case statement, the accused embezzled the Tk 1, 65, 00,000 issuing bank loans by showing fake signatures of the landlord out of his knowledge. They did it by making an irrevocable general power of attorney. The plaintiff came to know the matter as a number of bank officials rushed to the land for measurement of the land on June 15, 2025.
The court ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation to submit a report after investigation into the matter, court sources said.
