
A suspected member of the Kuki-Chin National Front, who was freed on bail from Chattogram Central Jail on Thursday, died at his home in Bandarban district Sunday afternoon.
Sangmoy Bawm, 55, died at about 4:00pm on Sunday at his village home under Sadar upazila in Bandarban district, said his nephew Sendi Bawm.
‘We took my uncle home from Chattogram Medical College Hospital on May 29 after securing bail. He wished to go to village home to meet near and dear ones,’ Sendi told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ·.
Chattogram Central Jail’s jailor Md Masud Hassan Jewel said that they released Sangmoy Bawm on May 29 as he secured bail from a court in Chattogram.
Chattogram Central Jail’s senior jail super Muhammad Manjur Hossain said that Sangmoy Bawm was shifted to Chattogram Central Jail from Bandarban jail in 2023 and he was accused in four cases.
Sangmoy suffered from different health complexities for a long time when he was in prison, he said.
