The Anti-Corruption Commission on Monday filed two separate cases against former youth and sports minister Nazmul Hasan Papon and his wife Ruksana Hasan on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 32 crore and conducting suspicious transactions of Tk 791 crore.

The commission also filed a case against former Bangladesh Cricket Board director Ismail Hider Mallik on charges of amassing assets worth Tk 3.70 crore beyond known sources of income.


The commission filed the cases accusing them of the corruption following an ACC approval on the day, said ACC deputy director for public relations Aktarul Islam.

According to the case statements, Papon, also a former president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board and a former lawmaker from the Kishorganj-6 constituency, was prosecuted on charges of amassing wealth worth Tk 20 crore beyond known sources of income.

The commission also found suspicious transactions of Tk 742 crore in his 20 bank accounts.

Papon鈥檚 wife Ruksana was sued on charges of amassing assets worth Tk 12 crore beyond known sources of income and conducting suspicious transactions of Tk 49.32 crore.

The ACC filed a case against Ismail, also sacked executive director of Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd, on charges of amassing illegal assets worth Tk 3.70 crore.

The anti-graft agency in an inquiry found illegal assets worth Tk 3.70 crore of Ismail while it also found suspicious transactions of Tk 3.30 crore in his eight bank accounts.
