A local leader of Juba League, the youth front of Awami League, was hacked to death by unidentified attackers in Muradpur under Sitakunda upazila in Chattogram on Thursday evening.
The deceased was identified as Muslim Uddin, 45, son of Abu Taher. He was the joint general secretary of Ward 4 Muradpur union unit Juba League.
According to the police between 10 and 12 people attacked Muslim Uddin with sharp weapons outside an under-construction factory in the Beribadh area at around 6:00pm. The attackers hacked him indiscriminately.
Upon receiving the news, family members of Muslim Uddin and locals rescued him and rushed him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
He died on the way to the hospital at about 7:30pm.
Sitakunda police station officer-in-charge, investigation, Mohammad Alamgir confirmed the incident and said, 鈥楿nidentified attackers attacked and killed Muslim Uddin. The police are currently at the scene. Efforts are under way to identify and apprehend the attackers.鈥�
