An activist of the United People鈥檚 Democratic Front was shot dead and another was injured in an attack by a group of miscreants at聽 Matiranga in Khagrachari on Wednesday.
The deceased was Astin Tripura, an activist of UPDF, Prasit Group, and son of Basona Tripura.
People of the area said that a group of miscreants swooped on the house of Astin in Taidang Headman Para in the upazila around 7:00am and opened fire, leaving Astin dead on the spot and another injured.
Injured Tarapoti Tripura was taken to a local hospital.
Angya Marma, a spokesperson of the UPDF, However, blamed armed members of the Jana Sanghati Samiti behind the attack.
Abu Hena Mohammad Mostafa Reza, in-charge of Matiranga police station, said that the police was year to reach the spot as it was a remote area.
