Bus passenger Omar Ali on Friday filed a case against eight to nine unidentified people with the Mirzapur police, three days after the incident.

According to the case statement, 30–35 passengers boarded a Rajshahi-bound bus of Unique Road Royals Paribahan from the Gabtoli bus terminal in the capital and that it started at about 11:25pm on February 17.

On February 18, at about 1:00am, the bus stopped at Chandra Bypass at Kaliakair, Gazipur and picked 3–4 new passengers.

About half an hour later, 8–9 men stood up and wielding sharp weapons threatened to kill the passengers if they did not comply with their orders.

About 1:45am, near the Sohagpara pedestrian bridge on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Mirzapur, 6–7 robbers snatched cash, phones and jewellery from the passengers and sexually assaulted 2–3 women passengers.

The bus then took a U-turn at Natiyapara in Delduar in Tangail and after two and a half hours at about 4:00am, they stopped the bus and turned it towards Tangail again near Nandan Park in Ashulia.

Later, they quickly got off the bus and fled, the case statement stated.
