Advisor to the interim government for the ministry of environment, forest and climate change Syeda Rizwana Hasan on Sunday said that an action plan will be adopted and implemented in the light of current public expectations on climate change.

‘Preventing the use of polythene and single-use plastics, controlling air pollution, stopping noise pollution caused by car horns, taking initiatives to prevent river pollution, developing waste management activities, protecting mountains, preserving forests, preventing water bodies from filling up, implementing high court orders among others will be implemented on a priority basis,’ she said at the first meeting with officials held at the first day of her office in the secretariat.


She vowed that the ministry will be made into a people-friendly ministry, said a press release.

The advisor said that an example will be set by taking effective measures to control various types of pollution. Opportunities will be created for student representatives to participate in the activities of the ministry.

Rizwana said that with the aim of increasing the involvement of all stakeholders related to the environment in the work of the ministry, international and national organizations, civil society, mass media, private sector, academics, professionals and others will be continuously exchanged at the national and departmental level. 

She said regular meetings of the National Environment Committee will be convened to make important decisions on environmental protection.  The decisions of the Ministry and the Directorate will be regularly updated on the website to ensure transparency and accountability as per the expectations of the people.

The meeting was attended by the secretary of the ministry, additional secretaries and senior officials of the ministry.
