
Two fires broke out in separate places in the capital on Saturday morning.
A fire broke out at a hotel near Karwan Bazar kitchen market, while another started on the second floor of a four-storey building at Dholaikhal in the capital.
The fire originated at the tin-shed generator room of Hotel La Vinci near Karwan Bazar kitchen market at about 10:15am, said Talha Bin Zasim, station officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence media cell.
He said that six firefighting units went to the spot and doused the fire at about 10:45am.
The other fire broke out at a branch of Mutual Trust Bank at Dholaikhal which is located on the second floor of the building at about 10:40am, said Shahjahan Sikder, deputy assistant director of the Fire Service and Civil Defence media cell.
On information, five firefighting units rushed to the spot and put out the fire at about 12:00pm, he said.
Shahjahan Sikder also said that the causes of the fires could not be ascertained immediately.
‘It will be possible to know the causes of the fires after investigation,’ he said.
No casualties were reported, added the fire service official.
