A female student died after being crushed by a train in Cumilla Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Mim Akter, 13, a ninth grader at Rasulpur High School of Adarsh Sadar upazila in the district.
The accident took place at about 11:00am in Mazar Gate area near Rasulpur station of the upazila.
Protesting at the accident, fellows of Mim blocked the rail track in the area.
Witnesses said that Mim was crossing the rail line on her way to school. At that time, Dhaka-bound Chattala Express and Chattogram-bound Parjatan Express were crossing. Mim was crushed by a train as she noticed the train on one side but missed the other on another side.
On information, Mim鈥檚 fellows rushed to Rasulpur station and blocked the rail line, resulting Dhaka-bound Mahanagar Provati Express train stuck there for hours.
Cumilla railway station police outpost in-charge Mustafa Kamal said that police were sent to the spot on information.
The body was sent to Cumilla Medical College Hospital for autopsy after recovering, the police official added.
