The leaders of Bangladesh Garments Washing Technologists Foundation have underscored the need for a collective effort for sustainable development in the washing sector, which plays a significant role in value addition.

They also said that they are working to build a washing institute in Ashulia to boost the country›s RMG exports.


They revealed it at their 14th Annual Get-together on Thursday in Savar.

At his speech as chief guest, Faruque Hassan, former president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, said that the country›s RMG industry needs to be more competitive and cost-effective to boost exports and overcome the challenges in the post-LDC period.

‘Washing technologists can play a significant role in cost effectiveness,’ he added.

Mentioning the USA tariff imposed on Bangladesh, he said the government must negotiate with the US counterpart regarding the issues immediately.

The daylong event was inaugurated by distinguished guests from the| textile garment sector, members of BGWTF who work in different garment washing factories.

BGWTF president Md Abdus Samad presided over the function, and its general secretary Mahasinuzzaman Shishir moderated the event.

The Best Development Awards were handed over among Maxcom Washing, Agami Washing Ltd, and Sterling Washing Ltd in the programme.

Moreover, Engineer Mehadi Hasan, the founder president of the BGWTF, received a gold Medal and lifetime membership there.
