A Dhaka court on Thursday placed Milton Samadder, Child and Old Age Care founder, on three-day remand in a case filed on charges of unauthorised burial of bodies by making death certificates using fake seals of the city corporation.
Dhaka additional chief metropolitan magistrate Tofazzal Hossain gave the remand order after a hearing on Thursday afternoon, reported ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· court correspondent.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police detective branch Mirpur zonal team sub-inspector Mohammad Kamal Hossain, also the investigation officer in the case, produced the accused before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.
Milton’s lawyers, meanwhile, filed a bail petition to cancel the remand.
The court, however, granted three-day remand after hearing both sides.
Three cases have been filed against Milton Samadder over various charges, including fraudulence, human trafficking and physical assault, DB chief Harun-or-Rashid told a press briefing at the DMP media centre on Thursday.
He said that one of the three cases was filed on Wednesday by the Mirpur police on charges of unauthorised burial of bodies by making death certificates using fake seals of the city corporation.
‘We recovered death certificates using fake seals of the city corporation from Milton. We will look into the investigation thoroughly,’ said the DB chief.
The police will also question Milton’s wife during the remand period, Harun said.
Earlier, DB police detained Child and Old Age Care founder and chairman Milton Samadder from his office at South Paikpara of Mirpur in Dhaka at about 8:00pm on Wednesday.
