The Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court recently accepted a final report submitted by an investigation agency that relieved City Bank chairman Aziz Al Kaiser in all three cases filed by his former wife, Tabassum Kaiser, against him.
The charges of breach of trust, cheating, and forgery, were brought against him in the cases filed in December 2022. Upon a thorough assessment of the allegations, the court initially directed Detective Branch of the police to investigate these, said a press release on Saturday.
Following an investigation, the DB found the allegations baseless and submitted a final report relieving Aziz Al Kaiser of the charges.
Later, Tabassum Kaiser filed a no-confidence petition against the DB’s final report.
Then the court directed the Police Bureau of Investigation for conducting further investigation.
After the investigation, the PBI also failed to find any evidence supporting the charges against Kaiser; and on April 17, it also submitted a final report to the court, the release stated.
Despite another no-confidence petition from the plaintiff, the court upheld the PBI’s findings, accepted their final report and relieved Aziz Al Kaiser in all three cases.
Kaiser said, ‘These were baseless allegations from the outset, motivated by malicious intent to extract a substantial sum of money from me while divorce is a reality in any marriage.’
Islamic shariah has provided a framework to address such matters, he said, adding that it was the duty of family members to seek a peaceful solution, according to the release.
‘Unfortunately, the elder brother and sister from my former wife’s side upon whom I relied failed to perform their responsibilities. I believe, they will be answerable to the Almighty for this,’ Kaiser said.
