Google Wallet has been officially launched in Bangladesh on Tuesday and City Bank customers can now add their Mastercard or Visa cards to Google Wallet and pay with Google Pay—quickly, securely, and contactlessly, says a press release.

With this launch, customers can now make fast and seamless transactions simply by tapping their Android phones at any NFC-enabled POS terminal—whether at home or abroad, the press release added.


For small purchases, PIN-free functionality further enhances the checkout experience.

‘We are proud to bring this innovative solution to our customers and enable a smarter, more convenient way to pay,’ he added.

Bangladesh Bank governor Ahsan H Mansur was present as chief guest at the programme.

Charge d’affaires, ad interim, at the U S Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh Tracey Ann Jacobson; and vice-chairman of City Bank Hossain Khaled were present as special guests at the programme.

Besides, managing director & CEO of City Bank Mashrur Arefin; Google Payments group product manager Shammi Quddus; Mastercard Bangladesh country manager Syed Mohammad Kamal; and Visa Bangladesh country manager Sabbir Ahmed.

Other senior officials from City Bank, Google, Mastercard and Visa were also present at the event.
