The interim government chief adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, on Monday appointed economist Anisuzzaman Chowdhury as special assistant to assist the finance adviser.
He has been given the executive power of the finance ministry with the status of a state minister, according to a gazette notification issued by the Cabinet Division in this regard.
Anisuzzaman is an emeritus professor at the Western Sydney University in Australia and held senior UN positions in Bangkok and New York in economic and social affairs.
