Islamic University celebrated the 47th University Day amid a festive mood and much enthusiasm on the occasion of the 46th founding anniversary on the campus in Kushtia on Saturday.

Marking the day, vice-chancellor professor Nakib Mumahammad Nasrullah hoisted the national flag, while pro-vice-chancellor professor M Yeaqub Ali hoisted the university flag at football playground in the morning.


The vice-chancellor inaugurated the programmes by cutting a cake and releasing pigeons and balloons.

Teachers, students, officers and employees of the university brought out a procession on the campus.

The procession ended in front of the university’s foundation stone after parading the main roads of the campus.

Later, a discussion was held at the Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman auditorium with the vice-chancellor as the chief guest.

Subsequently, a cultural event was held at the auditorium in which teachers and students of different departments of the university participated.

Presided over by Professor Alinur Rahman, convener of the anniversary committee, pro-vice-chancellor, treasurer professor Mohammed Jahangir Alam, teachers’ and employees’ association leaders and student representatives, including SM Sweet of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, addressed the event.

The day’s events included a special prayer after Zuhr at the central mosque, while the celebration concluded in the evening with the screening of an Iranian film at the auditorium.
