The Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed, in partnership with MetLife Foundation, launched a transformative skill development initiative titled ‘Jagoron’, aimed at empowering 150 individuals with disabilities.

The programme offers specialised training in three key areas, including computer office applications, electronics and mobile phone servicing, and dressmaking and tailoring, said a press release.


Participants will receive certification upon completion, along with seed funding to help them start small businesses or pursue other income-generating opportunities.

To ensure holistic support, CRP will also provide free medical and therapy services throughout the training period, within a fully inclusive and accessible environment.

The programme was officially inaugurated at a recent ceremony attended by key stakeholders and dignitaries.

Speaking at the event, Valerie A Taylor, founder of CRP, said, Through collaborative efforts like the ‘Jagoron’ programme, we can create meaningful change by promoting inclusivity and empowering people with disabilities to thrive.’

Ala Ahmad, CEO of MetLife Bangladesh, commented, ‘The Jagoron project is one of MetLife Foundation’s important efforts to help build an empowered society.’

Sohrab Hossain, executive director of CRP, said, ‘By equipping persons with disabilities with practical skills and resources, we are not only enhancing their livelihoods but also fostering a more inclusive society.’
