Dhaka University authorities on Saturday announced the closure of university for 15 days considering the situation following the recent earthquake.

Students have been instructed to leave their halls by 5:00pm on Sunday, says a press release issued by the university鈥檚 public relations office.


In a virtual emergency meeting of the Syndicate on Saturday, chaired by vice-chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan, Syndicate members reviewed the physical and psychological impact on students and stressed their overall safety.

Experts from BUET, the DU planning and development office, and the chief engineer recommended thorough inspections of all residential halls and necessary repairs, the Syndicate was informed.

Following this, the Syndicate decided to suspend all classes and examinations until December 6, 2025 and vacate all residential halls.

The university offices, however, will remain open as usual, the聽release聽added.
