The Rapid Action Battalion has arrested a young man in Jashore for possessing a substantial quantity of counterfeit currency.

The arrested individual, identified as Ibrahim Gazi, was apprehended with a total of Taka 429,600 worth of fake notes.


The arrest operation took place on Thursday afternoon in the Monihar area of Jashore city. RAB-6 Jashore Camp confirmed the action through a press release issued late Thursday night.

Additional Police Superintendent Rezaul Haque, the Company Commander of RAB-6 Jashore Camp, said that a RAB team initiated the operation after receiving confidential information.

The intelligence indicated that several people were planning to sell counterfeit notes at a tea stall located next to the Monihar cinema hall on Thursday afternoon.

RAB subsequently raided the location and arrested Ibrahim Gazi. At the time of his initial arrest, Taka 90,000 in counterfeit notes were recovered from his possession. The fake currency included notes in denominations of Taka 500, 200, 100, and 50.

During preliminary questioning, Ibrahim confessed that he manufactured the counterfeit money himself at his residence. He admitted to using a computer and a printer to create the fake notes before distributing them in various locations.

Following this confession, the RAB team conducted a raid on Ibrahim鈥檚 house in Satkhira. This search yielded an additional Taka 3,39,600 in fake currency. The authorities also seized the equipment used to produce the counterfeit money, including a computer, monitor, and printer, from the residence.

Sources also mentioned that counterfeit currency manufacturing equipment, including a computer and printer, were recovered from his room during the Monihar operation.

Ibrahim Gazi is the son of Kashem Ali Gazi and hails from Ganeshpur village, located in the Patkelghata upazila of Satkhira district.

RAB Commander Rezaul Haque said that a case has been filed in connection with the crime, and the suspect, Ibrahim Gazi, has been handed over to the Jashore Kotwali police station.
