A Dhaka court on Thursday placed Sohel and Sujan, two suspected killers of Pallabi Thana Juba Dal leader Golam Kibria, on a four-day remand each in a case filed over his murder.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Partho Bhadra passed the order after police produced the duo before the court and sought a seven-day remand for each of them for further interrogation.


Police arrested Sohel and Sujan in Majar Bosti area under Tongi West police station on November 19.

On November 18, another accused, Jony Bhuiyan, gave a confessional statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, admitting to shooting Kibria dead inside a hardware store.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Arifur Rahman recorded his confessional statement and subsequently sent him back to jail.

Locals apprehended Jony in Pallabi Section-12 area late on November 17 and handed him over to the police.

According to the case statement, three masked and helmeted assailants entered the hardware store in Mirpur-12 Block-C at around 6:40pm on November 17 and shot Kibria dead.

The following day, the victim鈥檚 wife, Sabiha Akter Dina, filed the case with Pallabi police station naming five people and seven to eight unidentified others.
