The United Kingdom–based global education and research authority, Quacquarelli Symonds, has released its World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026, where Gazipur Agricultural University has secured first place among agricultural universities in Bangladesh, third among public universities and fifth nationwide across both public and private institutions.

The ranking was published on the QS website on Tuesday, said a press release.

This achievement stands as a testament to the leadership, thinking, planning of GAU vice-chancellor Professor GKM Mustafizur Rahman.

This year, 22 Bangladeshi universities earned positions among 1,994 institutions worldwide. Nationally, GAU stands immediately after the University of Dhaka and the University of Rajshahi.

Professor Mustafizur Rahman stated that this achievement in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2026 was the collective result of the hard work, integrity, dedication and dreams of every member of the GAU family.

‘Yet, we will not pause here. With strategic and forward-looking initiatives, our next goal is to secure a position within the global top 100–200 in major international rankings, including QS and to become the number-one university in Bangladesh,’ he added.

‘As an agriculture-driven nation, Bangladesh’s future depends on research, innovation, environmental protection and sustainable development. Gazipur Agricultural University is now more committed than ever to illuminating that future,’ he mentioned.
