Professor Ali Riaz, who was appointed as a special assistant to the interim government’s chief adviser on November 13, returned to the country on a regular flight from the United States on Tuesday midnight.
Ali Riaz, who is a professor of the Department of Politics and Government at Illinois State University, traveled to the United States on November 2 for professional purposes.
According to Ali Riaz, on November 13, he delivered a lecture at a seminar held at the University of Texas on how Bangladesh’s original constitution and its subsequent amendments have defined the nation and nationalism in ways that created divisions in politics and society.
Ali Riaz served as the chief of Constitution Reform Commission and the vice-chair of the National Consensus Commission.
The tenure of the NCC ended on October 31.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday morning, Ali Riaz said, ‘During my trip to the United States, I had some pending matters related to my university leave, and on November 13 I delivered a lecture at the University of Texas.’
