Dhaka Bank PLC, in partnership with the Shafal Programme, has launched ‘Digital Financial Literacy for Migrant Workers and Families’ initiative to strengthen digital and financial inclusion among migrant communities in Bangladesh.
Shafal Programme is a joint initiative of the United Nations Capital Development Fund and the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh, said a press release.
Through this collaboration, UNCDF and Dhaka Bank, with support of the Embassy of Switzerland, will co-develop a digital financial literacy curriculum and user-friendly learning modules.
These resources will help migrant families understand how to use digital accounts safely, protect themselves from fraud and make informed financial decisions to build savings and assets.
Speaking at the launch recently, AKM Shahnawaj, managing director (current charge) of Dhaka Bank, stated, ‘As a socially responsible financial institution, Dhaka Bank is committed to bridging the digital divide and ensuring that migrant families who contribute immensely to our economy are empowered with the knowledge and tools to use digital financial services safely and effectively.’
Among others, Dhaka Bank deputy managing director (operations) AMM Moyen Uddin, deputy managing director and chief emerging market officer Md Mostaque Ahmed, liability and cash management head Mosleh Saad Mahmud, SVP and communications and branding division head Syed Ghulam Dastagir, UNCDF country project manager Sadat Mainuddin and national project analyst Md Shariful Islam Chowdhury participated in the event.
