Border Guard Bangladesh personnel were deployed in Dhaka and three other districts on Sunday to assist in maintaining law and order amid a recent surge in violence ahead of Monday鈥檚 verdict against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

In a text message, the BGB headquarters confirmed that its members had been deployed in Dhaka, Gopalganj, Faridpur and Madaripur to ensure overall security and stability.

Since the night of 7 November, a series of crude bomb explosions and arson attacks on buses have taken place in Dhaka and several other areas, centring the upcoming verdict and the Awami League鈥檚 announcement of blockade programmes.
