Border Guard Bangladesh members on Saturday detained six Bangladeshis, including three women, while they were attempting to enter India illegally through the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah.
Among the arrested, Tufan, 26, is son of Monirul from Baghadanga village in Maheshpur, Dulal Mondal, 67, son of Arjun Biswas from Kalinagar village in Muksudpur of Gopalganj, and Bikash Adhikari, is son of Nimai Adhikari from Adhikaribari village in Agailjhara of Barishal.
Maheshpur BGB-58 Battalion assistant director Munshi Imdadur Rahman said that a team led by naib subedar Tapas Kumar Sarkar of Khoshalpur BOP detained Tufan and four Bangladeshis, including three women, while patrolling near Border Pillar 60/86-R.
Separately, a patrol team from Kumillapara BOP, led by Nayek Md Ahmed Ali, apprehended another individual attempting to cross into India near Border Pillar 60/52R.
The detained women were sent to the Justice and Care Centre in Jessore, while the men were handed over to Maheshpur police station. Maheshpur police OC Nazrul Islam said cases would be filed against the men on Sunday.
