Director general of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud at a programme in Dhaka on Wednesday called upon all the members of the force to perform their duties with ethics, discipline and honesty.
He made the call while speaking as chief guest at the programme at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Ansar camp, said a press release.
Ansar members working under the four regions of Dhaka Metropolitan participated in the programme on the issue ‘responsibility, professional discipline, problems and welfare progress of the members of the force’.
Expressing his determination to further strengthen the role of the force in the security of the state and public welfare, Sazzad Mahmud said, ‘As a member of this force, performing duties with dedication and sincerity is the highest honour of an Ansar member.’
He referred to the various branches of the force as complementary to each other, saying that all the members were working as complements to each other for the security, development and public welfare.
‘The force is maintaining maximum vigilance in recruiting Ansar members in government and private institutions,’ mentioned the DG, adding, ‘In addition to verifying the legitimacy of the prospective institutions, necessary measures are being ensured for the assigned members to perform their duties 100 per cent.’
Sazzad Mahmud said, ‘The force is committed to administrative reform, transparency and creating a favourable working environment. A zero tolerance policy has been implemented against corruption and breach of discipline.’
He also said that continuous steps had been taken to improve the quality of life of the members.
‘For the welfare of the members, bus services have already been started in the metropolitan area under the Ansar-VDP Welfare Trust, its own ration store has been built, the ration transport system has been modernised and the ration distribution system has been started in the package,’ he mentioned.
Deputy director general, operations, Md Saifullah Russell, and Dhaka Metropolitan Ansar director Md Asaduzzaman Gani, among others, were present at the programme.
