A 10-year-old boy with disability died as he fell off the fourth floor through the elevator tunnel of an under-construction building in the Ulon area of Rampura in the capital, the police said.
The victim, Mohammad Ayan, met the fatal accident at about 2:00pm while repair works were being carried out on the lift, witnesses said.
鈥楾he elevator鈥檚 gate on the fourth floor was open due to maintenance works when the boy met the accident,鈥� Md Jahangir, a neighbour of the boy who rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital told reporters.
DMCH police outpost in-charge inspector Mohammad Faruk said that the boy was declared dead at the hospital at about 3:00pm.
Ayan lived with his family on the fourth floor of the building, the police said.
