Politicians and labour leaders on Monday at a commemoration meeting in Dhaka said that labour leader Abul Basher was a true leader who worked to establish workers’ right with unwavering commitment.

Workers Party of Bangladesh organised the commemoration meeting at its Topkhana Road central office to mark the 15th anniversary of death of its politburo member and renowned labour leader Abul Basher.


Acting president of the party Mahmudul Hasan Manik who chaired the meeting called on the labour rights bodies to work for completing the unfinished work of Abul Basher establishing rights of the country’s workers.

Party acting general secretary Nur Ahmed Bakul said that Basher was one of the founders of Sramik Karmachari Oikya Parishad, SKOP in short, during HM Ershad’s autocracy to fight for workers’ cause.

Labour leader Abul Hossain said that they were working relentlessly to advance the cause, while also calling on the interim government to take steps in this regard.
