North South University hosted the AI, IoT and Robotics Day 2025 on the NSU campus in Dhaka on Saturday.

Organised by the school of engineering and physical sciences, the event brought together faculty, researchers, students and industry leaders to explore how emerging technologies are shaping the nation’s future, said a press release.


The opening ceremony began with a welcome address by Professor Shazzad Hosain, dean of SEPS; followed by remarks from Professor Abdur Rob Khan, pro-vice-chancellor of NSU; who inaugurated the event.

Manjur Mahmud, president of Datasoft Systems, delivered the keynote on ‘building the future workforce: an AI-first curriculum model for university industry sandboxes in smart Bangladesh’.

The event also featured a panel discussion on ‘transforming Bangladesh’s technology procurement policy to foster local value addition through industry and university collaboration’.

Benajir Ahmed, founder life member of NSU, and panellists, including Hasibur Rashid, CEO, Intercloud Limited; Mohammad Nahidul Karim, ICT ministry; Mohammad Tawrit, CEO, BdREN; Safwat Ahmed, Selise Digital Platforms; and M Rokonuzzaman, professor, NSU, attended the discussion as special guests.

The session chair was Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, vice-chancellor of NSU.

He emphasised the importance of collaboration between academia and industry to drive sustainable technological growth in Bangladesh.

The highlight of the day was an exhibition, showcasing cutting-edge innovations from NSU’s leading research labs, including MILAB and Apurba–NSU RD Lab, NSU Intelligent Robotics Lab, MESIL, TriModal AI Lab, BioData AI Lab, Big-Matrix Lab, QuICK, Optimization of Large Robotic Systems Group and Team X.
