Pubali Bank PLC on Sunday led a seminar in Rangpur on expansion of Cashless Bangladesh programme undertaken by the Bangladesh Bank, said a press release.
The seminar discussed in detail the expansion of cashless transactions, importance of digital payment systems and potential of modern banking services.
BB executive director and spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan was present as chief guest.
BB Rangpur Office executive director Md Ali Mahmud, Pubali Bank managing director and chief executive officer Mohammad Ali, Rangpur additional deputy commissioner Christopher Himel Richil and Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industries president Emdadul Hossain were present as special guests.
BB head office director (Payment Systems Division) Rafeza Akhtar Kanta presided over the event.
Among others, Pubali Bank deputy managing director Md Shahnewaz Khan, general manager — general banking and operation division Md Faizul Hoque Sharif, deputy general manager and ADC division head Md Rabiul Alam, regional head and deputy general manager of Rangpur region Mohammad Altab Hossain were present.
Arif Hossain Khan said that transparency, efficiency and security in transactions would be ensured in the country’s economy through the implementation of the ‘Cashless Bangladesh’ initiative.
Besides, the digital payment system expansion will bring rural and marginalised people under the ambit of financial inclusion, he said.

Bangladesh Bank officials, branch managers of government and private commercial banks in Rangpur district, officials of regional mobile financial service, representatives of Rangpur region’s traders and merchants’ association were also present at the seminar.
