Members of Coast Guard recovered the body of a female tourist who went missing after a boat capsized in a canal in the Sunderbans two days ago from Sailo Jetty in Mongla upazila of Bagerhat district.
The deceased were identified as Riana Azad, 28, daughter of Abul Kalam Azad of Barishal district and wife of Tauhidul Islam, a Bangladeshi expatriate in the United States.
The Coast Guard members recovered the body of Riana from the Pashur River at about 7:00am, said media officer of the Coast Guard, Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haque.
On Saturday, a tourist boat carrying 14 people sank in Dhangmari canal along the estuary of the River Pashur in the Sunderbans due to strong currents.
Thirteen people, including children, managed to swim ashore but Riana went missing.
The body was handed over to Chandpai River Police.
