The Bangladesh Ink Manufacturers’ and Exporters’ Association celebrated its 36th anniversary at The Westin Dhaka on Saturday, said a press release.

BIMEA president Shahab Uddin Khan said, ‘This milestone reflects our unity and vision for a self-reliant ink industry. Local ink production has reduced import dependence, making it a true import-substitute sector that saves foreign currency and generates employment nationwide.’


Industries adviser Adilur Rahman Khan attended as chief guest.

Science and technology secretary Md Anwar Hossain was present as a special guest and Bangladesh Garments Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association president Md Shahriar as a guest of honour.

In his address, Adilur Rahman Khan lauded the ink industry as a ‘silent but vital force’ behind Bangladesh’s garments, packaging and printing sectors.

He emphasised that ‘a strong domestic ink industry means a stronger, self-reliant manufacturing base for Bangladesh’ and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting innovation-driven and sustainable industries.

Md Anwar Hossain highlighted BIMEA’s role in ‘strengthening the core of Bangladesh’s economy,’ noting the sector’s growing emphasis on quality, technology and eco-friendly production.

He praised partnerships with global leaders like hubergroup, Siegwerk and Sakata for advancing knowledge and technology transfer within the country.

The event, themed ‘36 Years of Legacy,’ where Kamal & Company and Danish Ink Industries were awarded Life Time Achievement for their valuable contribution as the first sheetfed and web offset and liquid ink manufactures respectively.
