In a bid to strengthen citizen participation in nature and wildlife conservation, the Department of Forest has launched a volunteer registration programme.

The initiative is being implemented by the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division, Dhaka.


The programme invites individuals who are already working in or are interested in wildlife conservation and awareness activities, wildlife habitat protection and animal rescue to register as volunteers.

The information collected will be used for official purposes, said a media release on Saturday.

Registered volunteers will have the opportunity to contribute to wildlife protection, prevention of illegal wildlife trade, restoration of natural habitats and raising awareness among local communities.

The forest department will provide necessary training to registered volunteers.

Based on the information provided by volunteers, consideration will also be given to awarding recognition for special contributions to wildlife conservation.
