National Citizen Party chief coordinator for southern region Hasnat Abdullah on Thursday said that NCP would strengthen the bonds of communal harmony in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

‘The NCP will strengthen the bonds of communal harmony in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Our only quorum in the Hill Tracts will be the ‘quorum of communal harmony’,’ he said.

He was addressing a coordination meeting of the NCP leaders from the three hill districts—Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban—held Thursday afternoon.

Commenting on July Charter, Hasnat said, ‘We want to receive the July Charter directly from the chief adviser, not from anyone else.’

‘Future leadership of Bangladesh will come from the National Citizen Party,’ he said, adding, ‘Those who signed the July Charter are now shedding tears in secret, but we know exactly what to do and how to do it.’

He added that there would be no person-centred politics in the region. ‘If the politics of personal loyalty continues, downfall is inevitable. Everyone must work together and remain vigilant against Indian hegemony.’

Hasnat said all honest and patriotic individuals who believe in the spirit of Bangladesh should be invited to join the NCP. ‘Those who did not oppose the July Movement, who are not criminals, and who love Bangladesh must unite with us to strengthen the NCP.’

He urged party leaders and members to perform their respective organisational duties with sincerity.

Chaired by NCP Rangamati chief coordinator Bipin Jyoti Chakma, it was also addressed by central student coordinator Mohibul Alam, divisional coordinator ASM Sujauddin, NCP hill tracts affairs supervisor Iman Sohel, central joint chief coordinator Jubair Alam Arif, Khagrachhari chief coordinator and southern region coordinator Manjila Jhuma, Bandarban chief coordinator Shahidur Rahman Sohel, Jatiya Juba Shakti coordinator Nazmul Haque, and central joint convener of Shramik Shakti Colin Chakma, among others.
