The committee formed by the Bangladesh Medical University has recommended the formulation of policy with provision of punishment for prescribing unregistered medicines.
In this regard, the concerned committee handed over the report to the vice-chancellor of BMU, Professor Dr Md Shahinul Alam, on Thursday, said a press release.
Dean of the faculty of medical technology of BMU, Professor Dr Mohammad Abu Hena Chowdhury, was made chairman and chairperson of the department of pharmacology, Elora Sharmin, and deputy registrar, law, Abu Hena Helal Uddin Ahmed were made members and assistant director, law, Advocate Tania Akhter was made member secretary of the committee.聽
The recommendation of the committee formed by BMU said that it appeared that there was an existence of unregistered medicines in the prescriptions of doctors of Bangladesh Medical University.
As a remedy, the committee recommended, among others, that BMU or university doctors should take initiatives to increase awareness among everyone by printing leaflets throughout the university to prevent BMU or university doctors from prescribing or advising patients on unregistered medicines that are not approved by the drug administration.
