Dhaka University’s Dawah Circle organised a four-day winter book fair at Payra Chattar of the Teacher-Student Centre on the campus on Thursday.

DU vice-chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan inaugurated the fair as the chief guest, said a press release.


Professor Md Sanaullah, chairman of Islamic studies department, Professor Md Abu Sayem, chairman of world religions and culture department and Professor Md Kamrul Hasan of tourism and hospitality management department at DU attended the inaugural event.

Speaking on the occasion, DU VC Professor Niaz said that the primary mission of Dhaka University was the production and dissemination of knowledge for society. Book fairs played a vital role in the process.

‘We will always support initiatives that promote knowledge across all communities,’ he said.

The fair features author-reader interactions, discussion sessions, Quran recitation, quiz competitions and free distribution of saplings.

Twenty eight publishers have set up stalls in the fair. The fair will continue until November 9, open daily from 10:00am to 9:00pm.
