Twelve out of 20 clubs participated in the players’ transfer of the forthcoming Dhaka First Division Cricket League as the two-day window closed on Thursday.
However, the Cricket Committee of the Dhaka Metropolis remained hopeful that all 20 teams would participate in the league.
After nine teams took part in the transfer on the first day, three additional teams completed their transfer the following day. However, the remaining eight teams remained absent.
It was learnt that the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Aminul Islam, and the vice-president, Faruque Ahmed, were working to convince the eight clubs.
The players’ transfer was held amid the threat of boycott from several clubs over the election of the BCB last month.
Several club representatives called for a boycott, citing Aminul Islam, who was re-elected as the BCB president, as ‘illegal’.
However, the BCB remained adamant that they would hold the upcoming leagues on time. They even added some strict clauses in the rules, regulations, and playing conditions of all leagues under the jurisdiction of the CCDM.
The First Division Cricket League is scheduled to begin on November 18.
