Dhaka University once again secured the top spot among Bangladeshi universities in the QS Asia University Rankings 2025, published by the United Kingdom-based education and research organisation Quacquarelli Symonds on November 4.
DU ranked 132nd in Asia and 17th among South Asian universities. The university also held the top position among Bangladeshi institutions in the past year鈥檚 QS Asia rankings, said a press release issued by the university鈥檚 public relations office on Wednesday.
The annual list includes 1,529 universities across Asia this year. The University of Hong Kong topped the list, followed by Peking University in China.
The ranking primarily considers factors such as academic performance, the number of PhD holders, and the proportion of international students.
QS also publishes a global university ranking annually based on several indicators, where Dhaka University holds the 584th position worldwide.
Recently, in the Times Higher Education ranking, DU also jointly topped the list among Bangladeshi universities, advancing 200 positions to place within the global top 1,000.
A 16-member committee has long been working to improve Dhaka University鈥檚 position in global rankings under the overall guidance of the DU vice-chancellor professor Niaz Ahmed Khan.
