Country’s both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange on Wednesday plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), declined by 32.2 points or 0.6 per cent to settle down at 4,987 points compared to 5,019 points in the previous session.
Market liquidity continued to remain subdued despite a slight uptick in average turnover by 7.0pc to Taka 4.9 billion.
On the sectoral front, Pharma (16.8pc) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Engineering (12.0pc) and Textile (8.6pc) sectors. Most of the sectors exhibited negative returns, out of which IT (3.6pc), Jute (1.8pc) and Textile (1.6pc) showed the most losses on the bourse today.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 70 advanced, 263 declined and 64 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, also experienced a bearish session today. The Selective Categories’ Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) slide by 68.9 and 105.8 points, respectively.
