National Citizen Party convener Nahid Islam on Tuesday thanked party leaders, activists and well-wishers nationwide after the party received registration with the water lily bud symbol.

He also announced that candidates would be finalised for 300 constituencies by the end of the current month ahead of the coming elections.

The Election Commission on Tuesday issued notifications granting three political parties registration, including the NCP that received the water lily bud symbol.

Speaking through a video message on Tuesday evening, Nahid said that the registration was the result of years of persistent effort by leaders and activists at both central and grassroots levels.

‘From now on, we are a registered political party, and under the symbol, we have secured our official registration,’ he said.

Nahid said that their party would field honest, capable and patriotic candidates in every district and constituency, expressing confidence that the support already received would be reflected in the forthcoming election.

‘The NCP is the party for all—for those who wish to enter politics afresh and want to reshape Bangladesh in a new way. We invite such people to join us,’ he said.

Highlighting the party’s nationwide organising activities, Nahid said that they had reached out to people across the country through their July campaign, garnering widespread support for reform and the principles of the July Charter.

He said that with continued support from party members, well-wishers and the public, the NCP would achieve electoral success.

Nahid said that a leadership committed to building a new Bangladesh had emerged through the mass uprising, and with that goal in mind, the NCP was founded in February, beginning its registration process the following month.
