Bangladesh Coast Guard on Tuesday rescued a tourist alive who was swept away by the tidal current while taking a bath during the Ras Purnima Puja festival at Dublar Char in Sundarban.
A press release, signed by BCG media officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, said that a tourist went to the seashore to take a bath at around 12:00pm when he was suddenly swept away by the tidal water.
Upon receiving the information, the Dublar Char coast guard outpost rushed to the spot and conducted a rescue operation with its ship ‘Swadhin Bangla’.
During the operation, the missing tourist was rescued alive from the sea area adjacent to Dublar Char. The process of handing over the rescued person to his relative is underway after providing immediate first aid, read the release.
