The seventh anniversary of the death of Tariqul Islam, a former standing committee member of Bangladesh Nationalist Party and minister, was observed with elaborate programmes in Jashore on Tuesday.
The programme included prayer sessions near the graveyard, discussions, doa mahfils and food distribution among the destitute people in Jashore town and elsewhere across the district.
The Journalists Union of Jashore arranged a doa mahfil at Jashore Press Club at noon where Jashore district BNP president Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, Daily Loksamaj publisher Shantanu Islam Sumit, district BNP organising secretary Rabiul Islam, former Jashore municipal mayor Maruful Islam, Journalists Union of Jashore president Akramuzzaman, and journalists Saifur Rahman Saif, SM Farhad, Noor Islam, Saiful Islam Sazal and others addressed the programme.
Tariqul died in Dhaka on November 4, 2018 and was buried in Karbala Graveyard in Jashore on the next day.
