MTB Foundation has presented its 15th ‘Bravery and Courage Award’ to Maherin Chowdhury, Mashuka Begum, Mahfuza Khatun and Masuma Begum, who sacrificed their lives while trying to save students from raging fire at the Milestone School and College tragedy on July 21, 2025.
Their selfless acts of courage not only prevented greater loss of lives, but also set an enduring example of bravery and motherhood.
Special crests and cheques were handed over to family members of the four victims through a simple ceremony at Mutual Trust Bank PLC corporate head office in the capital recently, said a press release.
Among others, MTB Group chairman Rashed Ahmed Chowdhury, MTB director Khwaja Nargis Hossain, independent director Shib Narayan Kairy, managing director and chief executive officer Syed Mahbubur Rahman, AMD and GCRO Chowdhury Akhtar Asif, DMD and CAMLCO Rais Uddin Ahmad and MTB Foundation CEO Samia Chowdhury were present.
As per the release, MTB Foundation introduced the Bravery and Courage Award in the year 2012 with a view to recognising different acts of bravery and rewarding selfless individuals and their families.
