The newly elected central leaders of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh paid tribute to the founder of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and former president Ziaur Rahman, offering special prayers and placing wreaths at his grave at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka on Sunday.

They also prayed for the peace of the departed soul of Ziaur Rahman and for the good health and long life of BNP chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia, and for the development, progress and prosperity of the country, said a press release on Monday.


BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy was present as chief guest at the programme.

DAB chief adviser and adviser to BNP chairperson Professor Dr Farhad Halim, DAB鈥檚 newly elected president Professor Dr Harun Al Rashid, secretary general Dr Md Zahirul Islam Shakil, senior vice-president Professor Dr Md Abul Kenan, vice-presidents Dr Erfanull Haque Siddique and Dr Shahidul Hasan Babul and treasurer Dr Md Mehedi Hasan, senior joint secretary generals Professor Dr AKM Khalequzzaman Dipu, Dr Sheikh Farhad and other senior leaders of DAB and Bangladesh Medical University deputy registrars Sabina Yasmin, Yahya Khan and assistant registrar Md Mosharraf Hossain, among others, were present at the event.

The leaders strongly demanded that the national election be completed within the time announced by the interim government.

They also pledged to build a fair, beautiful, developed and discrimination-free country by implementing the 31-point outline for repairing the state structure announced by BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
