Bangladesh Cricket Board on Monday endorsed a non-participation and withdrawal clause in the rules, regulations, and playing conditions of all leagues under the jurisdiction of the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis amid the call for a boycott from various clubs.
In a press release issued on Monday, the BCB stated that the rules would come into effect from the upcoming Dhaka Premier Division, First Division, Second Division, Third Division, and Third Division Qualifying Leagues.
According to the clauses, any team failing to participate in the League, either in full or partially, including complete withdrawal from the competition after its commencement, shall result in the immediate disqualification and relegation of the defaulting team.
The team will not be able to resume its participation in the ongoing league, the press release adds.
The opponents of the defaulting teams, after participating in any match prior to withdrawal or disqualification, will be awarded to the respective opponents, irrespective of the original match results, said the BCB.
If a team is disqualified in this manner, then the points of remaining matches will be awarded to its respective opponents.
However, the aforementioned rules won鈥檛 be applicable to any team that has officially forfeited participation prior to the commencement of the league.
The BCB also said that, if two or more teams were relegated as a result of withdrawal or non-participation, the Relegation League should not be held for that season.
In that case, the number of teams to be promoted for the 2026-27 season will be determined by the CCDM based on the number of teams relegated from the 2025-26 leagues.
After Aminul Islam was re-elected as the BCB president last month, representatives from several clubs, including former national team captain Tamim Iqbal, called for a boycott of upcoming leagues.
However, the BCB maintained its position to organise all the upcoming leagues.
