Abdul Mazid hit a hundred as Mymensingh continued their dominance against Rangpur on the second day of the second round match of the National Cricket League at the Cox鈥檚 Bazar Academy Ground on Sunday.聽

After Naim Sheikh and Mahfijul Islam, Mazid became the third batter to strike a ton for Mymensingh before declaring their innings 555-6, while Rangpur lost both openers, Mim Mosaddek and Abdullah Al Mamun, to score 18 runs in 14 overs at the close of play.聽


Mazid, who started the day on eight, reached his 14th hundred of his first-class career in the second session, while adding 130 runs with Shuvagata Hom鈥攚ho made 65鈥攆or the fifth wicket.聽

Abu Hider then came with all guns blazing as he struck 60 off just 34 balls with two fours and five sixes. He added 77 runs in eight overs with Mazid, who remained unbeaten on 119 off 186 while hitting 10 fours and three sixes.聽

Rangpur captain Akbar Ali used as many as 10 bowlers, while Alauddin Babu and Abu Hashim each took two wickets.聽

Mahidul Islam struck 122, while number nine Sumon Khan scored 74 as Dhaka made a remarkable comeback in the first innings to score 310 at the Outer Ground of the Sylhet International Stadium.聽

Sylhet openers Shykat Ali and Zakir Hasan, however, were unperturbed, as they put on 33 runs in 12 overs.聽

Having started the day on 120-5, Dhaka lost seven wickets for 175 runs before the lunch break.聽

Mahidul, who started the day on 36, then fought back with Sumon to put on 125 runs for the eighth wicket. He reached his fourth century in 221 balls and hit 13 fours. Sumon, on the other hand, smashed 11 fours and a six.

Dhaka, however, lost the last three wickets for just 10 runs. Ebadot Hossain and Khaled Ahmed each took three wickets for Sylhet.聽

Khulna were trailing by 79 runs in the second innings after restricting Rajshahi to 268 in the first innings as Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Nahidul Islam each took four wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.聽

After becoming 168-8, Shakhir Hossain fought back with a gritty knock of 89 from 172 as Rajshahi added 100 runs for the last two wickets. Miraz claimed four for 106, while Nahidul conceded 48 runs to take as many.聽

Nahid Rana then removed Soumya Sarkar early in the innings, but Amite Majumder and Anamul Haque saw the day out as they were unbeaten on 15 and 27, respectively.聽

Barishal made good progress to score 115-2 in reply to Chattogram鈥檚 first innings total of 358 as Mominul Haque missed out on a hundred by eight runs. Adil Bin Sadik scored 43, while Salman Hossain remained unbeaten on 47 for Barishal.聽

Having started the day on 84, Mominul was bowled by Ruyel Mia on 92 in the seventh over of the day.聽

After a 52-run partnership between Nayeem Hasan (35) and Hasan Murad (28), Chattogram were folded out quickly as they lost the last four wickets for a mere three runs.聽

Barishal captain Tanvir Islam bagged four, while Ruyel and Moin each took two wickets.
