A nine-day divisional book fair began in Rajshahi on Friday with the aim of creating new readers and promoting a culture of reading across the country.
Divisional commissioner and additional secretary Khondoker Azim Ahmed inaugurated the fair at Rajshahi Collectorate Field by releasing balloons in the afternoon.
Organized by Jatiya Grantha Kendro with the patronage of Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the fair features seventy stalls displaying and selling books from various authors and publishing houses.
According to the organizers, alongside special discounts, the fair will feature author-reader gatherings, cultural performances, and thematic discussion sessions.
The book fair will be open to visitors daily from 3:00pm to 8:00pm and on public holidays from 11:00 am to 8:00pm till November 8.
