Bangladesh Meteorological Department has advised maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox鈥檚 Bazar, Mongla and Payra to keep hoisted distant warning signal no 2 as cyclonic storm Montha over Southwest Bay and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal lies over Southwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal.

It was centered at about 12:00pm on Monday about 1300 kms southwest of Chattogram port, 1245 kms southwest of Cox鈥檚 Bazar port, 1200 kms southwest of Mongla port and 1190 kms southwest of Payra port, said a Met office bulletin.


It is likely to move northnorthwestwards and intensify further.

It may cross Andhra Pradesh coast of India around evening/night of 28 October 2025.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 54 kms ofthe cyclone centre is about 62 kph rising to 88 kph in gusts/squalls.

Sea will remain very rough near the cyclone centre.

All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
